A picture of the band

Critics criticise their lyrical abilities (Chris Martin sure ain't the "lyrical gangsta"!), but that's what critics do... it's their job. Sure their lyrics ain't that hot, but lyrics aren't what Coldplay are about. Coldplay just write great, floaty, dreamy music.

Coldplay are a bunch of ex-students from University College London (UCL), an establishment to which I nearly went. After graduating, they decided not to get a proper job, and to go into the music business instead. It payed off.

After releasing several critically-acclaimed limited edition EPs, they recorded an album, Parachutes.

The singles Shiver, Yellow and Trouble all sold well in the UK and gave the band enough momentum to begin their attempt to take over the world.

The second album A Rush of Blood to the Head fared well in both home and domestic markets spawning such singles as Clocks and The Scientist.

Review: Glastonbury 24/06/2003

I saw Coldplay at Glastonbury 2000. They were very good musically, but came across as rather arrogant. From radio broadcasts and webcasts that I've seen since, they seem much more down to earth. I guess at the time that I saw them they'd only just started to make it big and needed a while to adjust to fame.
